Our project
The Internet hosts several photographic plant collections, maintained by amateurs or institutions, informal or arranged with the utmost scientific precision, containing only few or thousands of species and images of very different quality. There are collections of flowers from Mount Baldo or Garda Lake, or virtual herbaria of single botanical families, like orchids. There was not, as far as we know, an organic collection of the wild flowers of Verona province, which includes an extremely high number of botanical species, especially on its mountains. It is this abundance that we started to collect and present, starting from spring 2003.
This purpose has not only a geographical scope, but also an eye on quality: many of the images available on the Web are both useless for the identification of the plant itself, and unable to convey its beauty. This is why we manage to combine practical needs with the aesthetic pleasure of shapes and colors.
Site images
The photographs contained in this collection were usually taken with a digital camera. Images were reduced in size and resolution to allow publication on the Internet, trying to preserve their quality as much as possible.
All images published on this site are exclusive property of their authors and are not meant for free distribution; personal use is allowed following grant of permission. Contact us for any request
